Phillip Rozeman, MD
President and Co-Founder
Phillip Rozeman, M.D. is the President and a founding physician of Willis-Knighton Cardiology. He is a native of Shreveport and has been a practicing cardiologist in Northwest Louisiana since 1984. Dr. Rozeman has extensive experience and expertise in the field of invasive cardiology and is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and American Board of Cardiology. He has been recognized as one of America’s Top Cardiologist by the Consumer Research Council from 2006 to the present and was the second recipient of the John Miciotto Lifetime Healthcare Achievement Award given by the Bossier Chamber of Commerce
Dr. Rozeman is active in numerous civic and professional organizations with special focus on healthcare and education improvement in Louisiana. In addition to his leadership roles in his cardiology practice and the Willis-Knighton Health System previously as Chief of Staff and Board of Trustees member – he has served as Chairman of the Governor’s Region VII Healthcare Consortium under Governor Kathleen Blanco. He took a leadership role in helping establish the first secondary smoke ordinance in Louisiana and, as Medical Director of Northwest Louisiana Red Cross, he led the effort to supply medical services to evacuees of Hurricane Katrina and Rita. For this work, he was honored by the American Lung Association with the 2006 Louisiana “Breath of Life” Award and American Cancer Society “Distinguished Service Award”.
Dr. Rozeman’s involvement in education includes founding the regional education foundation Alliance for Education to increase community involvement in public education in Northwest Louisiana. He served as chairman of the Caddo Education Taskforce – a grassroots initiative in Caddo Parish that developed and passed an $88 million bond issue for school improvements. Dr. Rozeman is also co-founder and first board president of Education’s Next Horizon – a statewide organization designed to connect education, business, and government leaders in support of school improvement in Louisiana. Through his work, he has led the creation of Louisiana’s Promise – a statewide community initiative to increase graduation rates in Louisiana.
For his work in education improvement he has received several honors including Distinguished Partner in Education from the Louisiana Department of Education, Louisiana Association of Educators “Friend of Education Award”, the Blue Cross of Louisiana “Angel Award”, and the annual Cornerstone Award of the Acadiana United Way and the “Clyde Fant Award” by the Northwest Louisiana United Way.
For his community service, Dr. Rozeman has been named Business Leader of the Year by both the Greater Shreveport and Minden Chamber of Commerce; LSU-S Pilot of the Year and Alumnus of the Year; Northwest Louisiana Red Cross “Man of the Year”; received the Harrah’s Constellation Award for community service; and has been inducted into the Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame.
Dr. Rozeman has served in several other community leadership roles including executive board positions in the Louisiana Committee of 100, Blueprint Louisiana, Alliance for Education, Education’s Next Horizon, Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce, and Shreveport-Bossier Imperative of Higher Education. He also currently serves on the board of the Shreveport Charter School Foundation, Council for a Better Louisiana, and Public Affairs Research of Louisiana and Louisiana Association of Business and Industry.
