As a senior medical officer, educator, mentor, and physician, Dr. Julie Morial has dedicated her life to creating and implementing programs and initiatives in the healthcare sector that balance the often competing goals of clinical excellence and quality while attaining positive outcomes and value. Dr. Morial currently serves as the Market Medical Director for the Capital Region of Peoples Health, a Medicare Advantage managed care organization that provides patient centered medical care to seniors and the dual-eligible population. At Peoples Health she assisted in the building and improvement of the evaluation infrastructure and relationships that inform and educate physicians across the Baton Rouge community about quality initiatives, navigation both virtual and embedded – related to Star Measures, HEDIS, chronic disease management, long-term acute care, care coordination, risk adjustment and medication adherence. She implemented initiatives that took Star Scores from poor performance to excellent, while markedly improving Risk Scores in the Peoples Health network in 2015.
She enjoys creating a culture of innovation, preparedness, growth, and community engagement to improve healthcare settings and deliver positive outcomes. She was awarded for her efforts with “The Right Track Quality in Care Award” from The American Health Strategy and Quality Institute in October of 2015.
Dr. Morial has certifications from ACLS and the American Board of Internal Medicine, and has faculty appointments at the Tulane University School of Medicine, Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine and the Louisiana State University Medical School. She received her B.A. from Yale University, M.D. at the University of Pennsylvania, and MPH at the University of California at Berkeley.
