Nick Tomlinson practices in the area of employee benefits as Senior Counsel in the Legal Department of Entergy Services, LLC. He is an Opelousas native and has been practicing law since 2006. With Entergy, Nick maintains compliance for the company’s retirement and health and welfare plans and employee policies and advises executives and departments across the company with respect to employee benefit issues. He has also advised on various federal, state and local tax issues. Prior to returning to Louisiana to join Entergy in 2010, he was a Tax Associate in the Atlanta office of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC.
Nick earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Louisiana State University, a Juris Doctorate from Gonzaga University School of Law, and a Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of Washington. He is a member of the Louisiana State Bar and the State Bar of Georgia and is licensed to practice before the U.S. Tax Court. He is also a Board Certified Tax Specialist by the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization.
During the summer, Nick teaches a graduate state and local taxation class as an adjunct instructor in the Accounting Department at the University of New Orleans. He also serves on the Entergy Legal Department’s Pro Bono Committee. Through his pro bono work, he has formed charitable non-profit companies and successfully gained tax-exempt status for them. He has also prepared wills and represented indigent clients in tax controversies and disputes over disability benefits. While in Atlanta, he served on the board of the Atlanta Chapter of the Worldwide Employee Benefits Network (WEB) as the VP of Programs (2008-2010). He also served as WEB’s
National Programs Chair from 2009-2010.
