Sonjia Brown-Joseph is a highly respected and experienced child care professional. She serves as the Co-Owner & Executive Director of Clara’s Little Lambs & JOWASH, LLC. Through her expertise in child care best practices as well as advocacy, Sonjia manages a team on nearly 50 employees, oversees training, and professional growth. Known for her ability building relationships and teams, she helped to developed partnerships with Crescent City Schools and the Louisiana State University Human Development Center to provide care for almost 200 children.


Sonjia is a current board member of Agenda for Children, a founding member of the New Orleans Early Education Network (NOEEN), and former member of the NOEEN Steering Committee. She is a graduate of Goldman Sachs 10k Small Business Program and the Louisiana Economic Development CEO Roundtable. Additionally, Sonjia was a finalist for the Louisiana Economic Development Growth Leader, one of 35 small businesses in the state of Louisiana recognized.


She holds of Bachelor of Science in economics from Southern University – New Orleans and a Bachelor of Science in management from the University of Phoenix, and completed the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities program from Louisiana State University. Committed to the betterment of young children, Sonjia has completed a child development associate’s program as well as continuing to take courses related to early care and education.
